Scottish Gin Club - Shoogle Gin - January 2022

Our Scottish Gin Club feature for January is Shoogle Gin. Produced by JB Payne & Family, Shoogle Gin is produced in Stonehouse, just south of Glasgow.

The Gin

Inspired by their patriarch and born from a strong desire to work together as a family, Shoogle Gin was originally released back in 2020.

The botanical profile is an intriguing one, with juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, orange and cardamom blended with kumquat, baobab, tonka bean and pink peppercorn. It’s this unique edge on what clearly started out life as a more traditional citrus gin that makes Shoogle Gin stand out.

A citrus spirit with a gentle hint of spice, Shoogle Gin is a true all-rounder. Whether you’re sipping neat, pouring a G&T or mixing up a cocktail it’ll no doubt leave its mark. It’s an award winner, too. It took a gold medal from the 2021 London Spirits Competition.

The Perfect Serve

Serve over ice, along with a Walter Gregor Original tonic and garnish with a squeezed slice of fresh orange to garnish.

Tasting Notes

On the nose you’ll be met by sweet, citrus notes. To taste, expect a light, juniper-forward gin. To finish, a gentle spice.
