Scottish Gin Club - eeNoo Gin - October 2021
Our featured gin this month comes from Lost Loch Spirits. From old Scots tongue, eenoo refers to the present moment - or just now. eeNoo Gin is traditionally distilled, with the Highlands at its heart.
Based in Royal Deeside, around 30 miles west of Aberdeen, Lost Loch Spirits derive their name from their base on the banks of the now drained Loch Auchlossan - the lost Loch.
The quirky and often inventive spirits that Lost Loch Spirits produce are natural, created with locally sourced ingredients where possible and draw on an array of sustainable power sources.
The Gin
Lost Loch Spirits set out with the aim of creating a traditional London Dry Gin, with a Highland twist. To truly encompass the profile of the Highlands, key botanicals include heather, willow herb, clover pollen, brambleberries, raspberries and rose hip.
With water drawn from a spring in the heart of the Cairngorms, the full botanical profile also includes local honey, coriander seeds, angelica root, liquorice root, lemon peel and orange peel.
The Perfect Serve
Serve over ice, along with Walter Gregor original tonic water and garnish with a swirl of fresh orange peel.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, expect a light and refreshing aroma. To taste, sweet notes with a touch of raspberry. Add a dash of juice from your peeled orange for a citrus boost. To finish, expect smooth and refined.
