Scottish Gin Club - Hills & Harbour Gin - September 2018

This month, our Gin Club members are enjoying Crafty Distillery's Hills & Harbour Gin. Find out more about the gin and where it's made below.

The Gin

Hills & Harbour Gin is made tasty by the forests & coastlines of Galloway – the perfect larder for the ingredients use by Crafty Distillery to produce their flagship spirit.

Hills & Harbour Gin with Bon Accord Tonic

A London Dry style with 9 classic botanicals distilled with 2 locally foraged botanicals - Noble Fir from the Galloway Forest and Bladderwrack Seaweed foraged from the shores of the Solway Firth.

Sweet and peppery juniper is balanced with hints of forest fir, tropical fruit, citrus spice, tangy sherbet and a subtle scent of the shore.

Grain to Glass

Crafty Distillery do things differently as they make their own wheat base spirit from local grain. This adds a smooth mouth feel and a delicate sweet flavour to the base of the gin.

The Distillery

Nestled on the edge of Newton Stewart, Hills & Harbour Gin is made in a modern, purpose-built distillery which delivers panoramic views over the Galloway Hills.

Distillery tours are available where you can help forage for botanicals, learn about Crafty Distillery’s unique distilling approach as well as enjoying some locally souced food and a gin (of course!) in the café.

Perfect Serves

Hills & Harbour is great with a number of garnishes and tonics. We recommend serving over plenty of ice with tonic and a slice of fresh mango for the ultimate simple serve.

If you’re looking for something a little bit different why not try the Galloway Forager? Combine 50ml of Hills & Harbour Gin with 25ml of Elderflower Cordial to an ice filled shaker. Add a sprig of Noble Fir and Shake. Strain into a glass over ice and top with soda. Finish with a sprig of Noble Fir and a slice of grapefruit.
