Scottish Gin Club - Calums Cabin - April 2022

April’s Scottish Gin Club feature is an Isle of Bute Distillery gin. This is a gin produced in support of Calums Cabin – a Bute-based charity that provides holiday accommodation for the families of children suffering from cancer, or cancer-related illness.

The Gin

A well rounded floral gin, Calums Cabin is refreshing and lightly spiced, thanks to the inclusion of locally foraged thistle. This thistle sits among a diverse range of botanicals including coriander, angelica, lemon, vanilla and coconut. In offsetting the hint of spice with sweeter notes of vanilla and coconut, Calums Cabin has a dry, earthy finish.

The botanical profile of Calums Cabin lends itself well to a “gin and ginger”. While our perfect serve sticks to a premium tonic, the light spiciness of the gin makes it an excellent pairing for a premium ginger beer, too.

The Perfect Serve

Serve over ice, with a premium tonic and a healthy slice of fresh pink grapefruit to garnish.

Tasting Notes

On the nose, Calums Cabin presents notes of almond. To taste, it’s a refreshing and lightly spiced gin. To finish, it’s delicate, dry and earthy.
