Scottish Gin Club - Garden Shed Gin - June 2019
Our Gin Club members are enjoying Garden Shed Gin this month. We've been working with the team over at The Garden Shed Drinks Co. since January 2018 as we were the first online shop to stock their gin and we're delighted to finally be featuring theith flagship gin as our gin of the month!
Founded in the autumn of 2017 by friends and Glasgow Warriors team mates Ryan Grant and Ruaridh Jackson along with their wives Maxine & Kirstin, The Garden Shed Drinks Company’s concept was developed around the kitchen table following a visit to a distillery. They wanted to develop a gin that could be created in the garden shed and was inspired by botanicals found on the doorstep, from wild blackberries at the bottom of the garden to dandelion you work so hard to get rid of.
Garden Shed Gin
Garden Shed Gin is a classic London Dry style gin that is made using 13 botanicals including locally grown blackberries, dandelion root and lavender. These key ingredients (along with juniper) are the centrepiece of Garden Shed Gin and the recipe was built around them.
Tasting Notes
Bottled at 45% ABV, Garden Shed Gin is packed full of florals, spices and citrus notes with fruity undercurrents, which when distilled, create a fresh smelling and tasting gin with a distinctively smooth long lasting finish.
Perfect Serve
We recommend serving over ice with a classic, crisp tonic (such as Walter Gregor) and finished off with some fresh blackberries and a sprig of rosemary. If you're looking for something slightly different then we would also recommend Fever Tree's Elderflower Tonic or Sicilian Lemonade.
To accompany the gin for our members, our chocolatier made some handmade chocolates pairing the flavour profile of Garden Shed Gin. Annette made a lavender & blackberry ganache housed in 65% cocoa.
