Wolfburn Distillery's Morven is a lightly peated whisky which has been double distilled in small stills for a fuller flavour. It's a beautifully smooth and rounded whisky.

The single malt whisky is made from malted barley infused with smoke during the drying process. Morven reflects the history of Wolfburn as the original 19th century distillery was largley fired by peat.

Non chill filtered and naturally coloured.

Tasting Notes

The nose is initially smoky with hints of fruit and fresh sea air. On the palate floral notes are followed by raisins and light spices. Malty flavours open up on the palate with the residual tang of peat smoke giving a lingering finish.

The perfect serve

Enjoy as you would normally enjoy a dram. Neat, on the rocks or with a dash a water.

Meet the maker

Based in Thurso, Wolfburn Distillery was originally founded by William Smith in 1821. Wolfburn was a significant producers of malt whisky and some tax records show it being the largest distillery in Caithness. It closed sometime around 1860 before being reawakened around 150 years later in 2011. Although some of the foundations of the original distillery remain, the new Wolfburn Distillery is just a short walk along the burn from the old site. Wolfburn has no automation and from milling through to bottling everything is done on site by hand with care and attention.
