ABV: 40%  |  Location: Lamb Holm, Orkney

The Spiced Rum from J. Gow is a pure island rum which is inspired by pirates and distilled just metres from the sea on a tiny island in Orkney.

Made entirely in Orkney, the high grade molasses is imported (unfortunately it’s hard to grow sugar cane in Orkney) and fermented for at least 7 days and distilled with natural spices from around the world including two secret ingredients grown in Orkney.

The clever combination and subtle use of spices gives a prominent rum flavour complemented with spices, rather than an overload of spices masking any hint of rum.

Tasting Notes

A light golden colour, with a smooth rounded sweetness. Subtle citrus notes with warm undertones of stem ginger. Flavours of soft moist ginger cake with oatmeal and cinnamon cookies, and a long warming spice finish.

The perfect serve

Perfect to sip over ice or enjoy with your favourite mixer. We highly recommend with a premium ginger ale but also works well with ginger beer, cloudy apple or cranberry juice.

Meet the maker

Based on Lamb Holm, a tiny island that is connected to mainland Orkney by the Churchill Barriers. At just 0.15 square miles, it may well be the smallest rum producing island in the world. The distillery sits metres away from the sea and the rums produced are inspired by pirates. The J. Gow name comes from the infamous Orkney pirate; John Gow. His short but violent career began in Amsterdam and ended in Orkney. He was imprisoned, tried and hung in London in June 1725.
