Kirkjuvagr Arkh-Angell Gin is a high strength gin created to celebrate the proud seafaring heritage of Orkney.

It retains the smoothness and characteristics of the original recipe Kirkjuvagr Gin but at 57%, the increased strength brings new depths to the complex flavour profile.

Kirkjuvagr Arkh-Angell Gin is a tribute to generations of island seafarers, and carries the name of a local fishing boat that has a place close to the heart of many Orcadians.

Tasting Notes

On the nose there are notes of a fresh sea breeze with a subtle sweetness reminiscent of sherbet, lemons and pine. The finish is remarkably powerful yet smooth with notes of pine and hint of liquorice.

The perfect serve

We recommend serving Kirkjuvagr Arkh-Angell Gin over ice with your favourite tonic and a wedge of pink grapefruit. Also great for sipping neat, over ice with a sprig of mint.

Meet the maker

Orkney Distilling was launched in 2016 by husband and wife team Stephen and Aly Kemp. Based in Kirkwall, the capital of Orkney, the couple wanted to create a range of spirits use local botanicals and celebrates the heritage of Orkney. With the help of the Agronomy Institute from the University of the Highlands and Islands, they started researching different local botanicals to perfect their recipe. Orkney Distillery was then opened in July 2018, sitting on Kirkwall's harbour front. The flagship Kirkjuvagr range underwent a rebrand in late 2021 and is now presented in a custom bottle.
