The first gin to be distilled in Glasgow, Makar is a handcrafted Scottish dry gin made from seven key botanicals all combined in the copper pot still affectionately named Annie.

The Makar name comes from the ancient Scots word for poet and the gin comes in a slender heptagonal shape which echoes both the number of times the gin is distilled and also the number of botanicals used.

Multi-award winning, Makar Original Dry Gin embraces the characteristics of its home city with its boldness and vibrancy.

Tasting Notes

Juniper-led, Makar Glasgow Gin is slightly sweet with liquorice to start and is backed up by citrus and spice before rosemary and angelica stand out on the palate and finish.

The perfect serve

Enjoy served over ice with Elderflower tonic with orange peel and black pepper. Alternatively, for a spicier drink, garnish with green chillies.
