Based in Fife, distilling at Lindores Abbey has been revived after 523 years. Records show distilling was taking place at the site in 1494 but, in reality, it was probably happening long before that. The spirit started flowing again in 2017 when the distillery was revived by Drew Mckenzie Smith. Along with his wife Helen, Drew had spent over two decades planning and campaigning to bring a distillery back to the grounds of Lindores Abbey. The new distillery was created by converting and enlarging the original old Abbey farm steading with the glass-fronted stillroom looking directly over the historic abbey grounds. The first spirit released was an aqua vitae with the first single malt whisky due for release in July 2021.
