The Quarter Cask 'The Bothy' from Arran Whisky is a complex, rich and intensely fruity Island Single Malt.

The liquid was initially matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels for 7 years before being transferred for secondary maturation into smaller Quarter casks also made of the finest American oak for a further 2 years.

Transferring the whisky into the smaller casks produces far greater contact between the liquid and the oak and a faster, more intense maturation.

Bottled at cask strength, naturally coloured and non-chill filtered.

Tasting Notes

The Quarter Cask balances aromas of creamy vanilla and cinnamon against bold, peppery spice. The palate offers notes of honey, coconut, pineapple and vanilla, alongside black pepper, ginger and oak spice.

The perfect serve

Best served at room temperature, however you enjoy a dram.

Meet the maker

Arran was home to many stills in the early 1800s (not all of them legal!) and in 1840 the original Lagg Distillery closed its doors. It wasn't until 1994 when Arran Whisky starting building their distillery in Lochranza at the north end of the island. Lochranza was chosen as the water there was of such high quality. The first whisky ran through the still in June 1995 and the distillery was officially opened in the August. Arran Whisky has collected many awards over the years including Scottish Distillery of the Year in 2007 and Distillery Visitor Experience of the Year in 2014 & 2015. In 2018, construction started to build a second distillery in Lagg with production of their unique style of peated whisky beginning there in March 2019.
