Speyside is region in the Scottish Highlands but it has its own whisky classification due to the concentration of distilleries in the area. Speyside is home to over half of the whisky distilleries in Scotland and accounts for around 60% of the single malt whisky produced in Scotland. Due to the volume of distilleries there is a number of quality whiskies on offer and, generally speaking, Speyside malts fall into two styles. There are light, floral, grassy whiskies as well as big-bodied sherried drams.
