From Campbeltown's Glengyle distillery, the Kilkerran Heavily Peated series is now introducing it's 11th batch.

Kilkerran Heavily Peated Batch 11 is a bold and intense single malt whisky from the Glengyle Distillery in Campbeltown, known for its distinctive character and powerful smoky profile. Part of a limited release series, this expression has been matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, which allows the robust peat smoke to intertwine with the rich, sweet flavors from the wood. The result is a complex whisky with layers of earthy peat, dark chocolate, dried fruit, and a touch of maritime saltiness. It’s a bold dram that delivers a powerful, smoky finish, perfect for those who enjoy a peat-forward whisky with depth and complexity.

Tasting Notes

Sweet aromas open on the nose with layers of icing sugar, crème brûlée, and custard. The peat smoke is gentle and sweet, reminiscent of toasted marshmallows, characteristic of the Kilkerran Heavily Peated range. Subtle hints of gooseberries and parma violets emerge on the palate as it evolves. The finish is long and lingering, with a touch of orange adding to the sweetness.

The perfect serve

Best served at room temperature, enjoy however you serve your malt, neat, on the rocks or with a dash of water.

Meet the maker

Glengyle Distillery was founded in 1872 by farmer William Mitchell and is in close proximity to the centre of Campbeltown. The distillery was operated under a couple of different owners until closing in 1925. It wasn't until 2004 when Hedley Wright (previous owner of Springbank) acquired the building did whsiky production resume, this time under the name Mitchell's Glengyle. The first single malt was released in 2012 with all bottlings from Mitchell's Glengyle being under the Kilkerran name which comes from the Scottish Gaelic for Saint Kerran's religious settlement, now Campbeltown.
