Shetland Reel's Ocean Sent Gin is has been influenced by the seas that surround the island of Unst, the most northerly inhabited island in the UK.

The London Dry Gin blends traditional botanicals such as juniper, coriander and citrus peels with bladderwrack seaweed foraged from the rocks of the coastline.

Bladderwrack is a distinctive and nutritious seaweed which brings a delightful maritime twist to the gin which is bottled at 49% ABV.

Tasting Notes

The nose has traditional juniper with subtle hints of salt and spice. The palate holds traditional London dry juniper but with a complex twist of saltiness and warmth. The finish is long and brings you right to the crashing ocean!

The perfect serve

We recommend serving 50ml of the Ocean Sent Gin over ice, topped with a classic tonic and garnished with a wedge of pink grapefruit and a sprig of mint. A sprig of lavender also makes a great addition.

Meet the maker

Shetland Reel is based at Saxa Vord Distillery at the northern end of Unst, the most northerly inhabited island in the UK. It is closer to Norway in distance and in culture than it is to much of Scotland. Unst is a place of mystery and secrets. Of long summer days and long winter nights. Of dramatic weather. Saxa Vord is the most northerly distillery in the UK and was started four people sharing a passion for producing top quality products in local communities. Their goal is to build the most northerly Scotch whisky distillery and create the finest expressions of whisky and gin that reflect the local landscape in the distillery on Unst.
