The GlenAllchie 8 Year Old Scottish Virgin Oak is a rare single malt part of the Virgin Oak Series. Matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and finished in Scottish virgin oak casks sourced from the Atlantic coast. Scottish oak is rarely used for whisky maturation due to its high cost and tendency to knot, as well as the challenging aspects of growing, milling and coopering the wood.

The oak was dried naturally for 36 months before being toasted and charred and then filled. Despite it's challenges, the GlenAllachie Scottish Oak presents notes of blonde chocolate, with hints of zesty orange and smooth toffee to offer a truly unique drinking experience.

Bottled at 48%, natural colour and non chill filtered.

Tasting Notes

The nose combines sweet notes of butterscotch and toffee, baked oats with cinnamon, gingersnaps and heather honey. To taste, there are lashings of heather honey, lemon zest and orchard fruit, followed by cinnamon, ginger and white chocolate, butterscotch and toffee on the finish.

The perfect serve

Enjoy as you would normally enjoy a dram. Neat, on the rocks or with a dash a water.

Meet the maker

The GlenAllachie Distillery story began in 1967 and has changed hands with production stopping and starting many times since. However, in 2017 three industry experts with over 100 years experience came together to form The GlenAllachie Distillers Company and revive the distillery. Head Distiller Billy Walker spends endless hours monitoring the spirit within each cask and only when he determines that the spirit has met the perfect balance between wood and distillery influence, will he put his name to the bottle.
