The first edition of Benriach Malting Season is made entirely from barley malted at its floor maltings and is the first bottling of its kind from the distillery in a century.

To create the whisky, the barley has been steeped in water before being spread across the malting room floor and turned by hand over several days in the autumn of 2012. Benriach has one of only two malting floors in the entire Speyside region.

It has then been double cask matured in bourbon and virgin oak barrels for a luxuriousy nutty dram with a richness of character.

Only 6672 bottles were produced.

Meet the maker

Benriach Distillery was founded in 1898 and was one of 33 distilleries to open across Scotland during that decade. Sadly, it was only operational for 2 years as it fell victim to the Pattison Crash which impacted the entire whisky industry. A period of 65 years passed before the distillery was producing whisky again but during that time the malting floor remained in production, supplying malted barley to neighbouring Longmorn Distillery. Since 1965, Benriach has grown production, experimenting with different styles of distillation and showcasing its creative flair. It has changed hands several times over the years but is currently owned by Brown Forman, an American based spirits company.
