The ready to drink Auld Pal Negroni from Mac & Wild is a contemporary Scottish take on the popular cocktail.

Although unconfirmed, it is believed that the negroni was first invented in Florence in 1919 when Count Camillo Negroni asked his friend, bartender Forsco Scarselli, to strengthen his favourite cocktail (the Americano) by adding gin instead of soda water. Scarselli did so and also replaced the lemon with orange and the drink took off. Other customers were then coming to the bar and asking for a 'Negroni'.
