The 1881 Distillery - Rafters Subtly Smoked Gin is subtly smoked, distilled with locally sourced botanicals and blended with water from a private spring.

A classic piney juniper gin base has been distilled to give big hits of pink grapefruit and has subtle hints of smoke on the palate.

The inspiration for the Subtly Smoked Gin comes from 1905 when the Peebles Hydro sadly burned down.

Botanicals: hawthorn, birch, fir and citrus.

Tasting Notes

Rafters Gin lead with pink grapefruit, a touch of cinnamon and has a crisp juniper finish and a subtly smoked palate.

The perfect serve

We think that the Subtly Smoked gin is best served with over ice with a classic tonic to enjoy the complex, smoky spirit. If looking for a garnish then lime and ginger work particularly well.

Meet the maker

1881 Distillery is based in the historic Peebles Hydro Hotel in the picturesque Scottish Borders town. The hotel has a long association with tennis and in the 1920s Peebles Hydro had more tennis courts than Wimbledon. During the many tennis touraments hosted at the hotel gin and tonic was a popular tipple with the crowds so the hotel decided to create a range of gins using local botanicals and natural spring water to celebrate its past. The distillery & gin school was named after the year the Peebles Hydropathic Hotel was first opened.

We use a combination of delivery services and the provider and service used will depend on your location, the size and weight of the products ordered, the value of the goods and the delivery service you select at checkout.

All deliveries in the UK will be dispatched using either Royal Mail or by a courier. Deliveries out with the UK will always be delivered using a courier.

We always recommend that you provide us with a delivery address where it is likely that someone will be available to receive and sign for the parcel. Where applicable, you will receive communication with a tracking number for your parcel

Delivery Times

We dispatch orders Monday to Friday and all orders received before 1pm are dispatched the same day. Order received after 1pm are dispatched the next working day.

The delivery time depends on your location and the delivery service selected at checkout. However, all deliveries in the UK will generally be made within 3 days of dispatch. Deliveries to European countries will be made within 5-7 working days of dispatch.
