The cask strength version of the peated Machrie Moor which has the classic fresh Arran Single Malt character with a puff of peat smoke and earthiness.

Machrie Moor perfectly captures the rugged beauty and lore of the landscape and is named after a peat bog on the west coast of the island where the legendary giant warrior Fingal is said to have tethered his favourite pet dog to a standing stone.

Tasting Notes

The nose has citrus notes with a background of peat and a puff of smoke immediately apparent. The palate has the typical orchard fruits of Arran coming to the fore over a layer of toasted brioche and red berries before an intriguing finish of citrus, smoke, chocolate, vanilla and coconut.

The perfect serve

Best served at room temperature, however you enjoy a dram.

Meet the maker

Arran was home to many stills in the early 1800s (not all of them legal!) and in 1840 the original Lagg Distillery closed its doors. It wasn't until 1994 when Arran Whisky starting building their distillery in Lochranza at the north end of the island. Lochranza was chosen as the water there was of such high quality. The first whisky ran through the still in June 1995 and the distillery was officially opened in the August. Arran Whisky has collected many awards over the years including Scottish Distillery of the Year in 2007 and Distillery Visitor Experience of the Year in 2014 & 2015. In 2018, construction started to build a second distillery in Lagg with production of their unique style of peated whisky beginning there in March 2019.
